As You See It Challenge #186 - Flag Me Down

This weeks challenge is all about “flags”....  here is an excerpt from the challenge blog defining the challenge....

“But for our purposes, a flag is a narrow piece of paper with a notch or slant cut at one end. Add them to your project as the sketch indicates!“

This one is going to be a bit more of a challenge for me as I’m away from home with no craft supplies.... so I will have to get very resourceful in creating this card!

I did have to go out and purchase some Tombow glue, black and white card stock and some black ink. Then I searched through my mom’s junk drawers and found a ruler, pencil, scissors, an eraser and I even found some white crochet cotton ... things are looking up 😝
Definitely had a challenge on my hands...  As I continued to search I found this one lonely Stampi’ Up! Stamp that I used for the sentiment. I’m not even sure what set it came from.

So here’s my take on the challenge... I created three larger flags to help add more interest to the card, and to incorporate the larger sentiment from the only stamp I had...

As You See It Challenge #185 - Coolness

This weeks Challenge is all about “coolness” ....
Using Stampin’ Ups! Dapper Denim, Bermuda Bay & Lemon Lime Twist.

So here’s my take on the “Coolness Challenge “.  My first thought when seeing the above colours was the tropics 🐠 , especially now that the weather is cooing off.

So I pulled out the inks and began to swipe the colours across the WC paper using a baby wipe. I then misted the colours with water to give a more organic look. To speed things along I used my SU heat gun to dry the WC paper. I’m not the most patient person when it comes to watching things dry 😝
Using a set of Tonic rectangular layering Dies I cut out a base. Then using the tropical leaf stamp and  versamark, I stamped the leaf randomly on the base. Working quickly I spread on the WOW white embossing powder and heat embossed it and voila... I did allow the base to cool before die cutting a frame.
I used foam tape to pop up and offset the inside of the frame adding even more dimension to the card.
Then using a scrap piece of WC paper and Bermuda Bay ink I inked the paper well, misted and heat dried. Then using the SU Botanical Builder palm branch die I cut out two branches to embellish the card. Next onto the sentiment. I used black ink and a sentiment from the SU So Many Shells stamp set and another of the Tonic rectangular layering Dies to cut out. I wrapped SU linen thread around the top of the sentiment. I really,Ive to add texture and dimension to cards I make.
The rest is just basic stamping and gluing.
